I don't see how engine oil can affect your MPG that much.

How many miles does £10 get you roughly and what is the price of petrol in your area?

well it's £1.33.9 for petrol and maybe 30 miles or something

When i got my mondeo it was servicd by the garage and i got mid 38 to the gallon.
A mechanic friend askd what oil was used which i didnt know the answer for.
I changd the oil and filters for the correct grade and gaind around 7mpg.

That's about 20mpg!!

Fuel Leak
Overfueling
Your maths are wrong

Even a VTS being booted doesn't give 20mpg let alone a 1.1

well its off in to the garage on wednesday and i can ask him to check for fuel leaks... just seem to be filling it up all the time... dont think it will be a fuel leak because i check the car every morning and theres no wet spots on the floor and nothing smells of petrol

It could be overfueling, have you got any mods?

You really ought to check your mpg properly rather than guessing. Brim the tank, reset the trip, then when you fill up, write down how much it cost, price of fuel (or note how many litres you put in) and how many miles you had done. Search mpg calculator in google and use the torque-cars one. Works for me bang on every time and with a full tank your not there every other day either.

ya saying that i fill up £10 and there every few days.. When i fill up £20 it takes me a week until i need to fill it back up

overfueling doesnt mean your putting too much fuel in the tank, it means the ecu is injecting too much fuel into the cylinders compared to the amount of air drawn in :y: mine was overfueling, i tested the lambda sensor myself and it wasnt switching

Haha welcome to saxo ownership. Get used to it being in the possession of your mechanic more than you. If it really is as bad as you say then I'd put my money on a lambda but I service will help slightly.

are you filling up with supermarket fuel i.e tesco or proper forcourt fuel i.e texaco?

i used to pu just £10 in my mk2 fiesta at my local esso garage as it were cheaper. went to a morrisons as that were a little cheaper as the esso garage had gone up and got no where near as far for my £10

its due to more ethonol in the fuel. wich evaporates and rots your fuel lines if you have steel lines.
