The vts lump i have comes with a set of keys and an imobiliser box. Searched but just to be sure, i can get it all set up, putting in the VTS imo and ECU then turn it on using my old keys, with the VTS key next to it? Can i then just tape the key next to the ignition barrel or should i take the immobiliser out?
Dont wanna get locked ha. cheers :)

simplest method is to just pull out the old immobiliser and plug in the new ecu and you cant lock it, obviously it means you have no immobiliser
or if you have all the barrels, ignition pick up ring, immobiliser and the ecu then you can swap everything over and it should work fine, but imo this is a load of work that i couldnt be bothered to do when doing mine, all depends how professional you want to be lol
i imagine, you could cable tie the new key in to the new new ignition barrel and keep it tucked away under the steering wheel cover and then you could use your original key to start it with the new immobiliser and ecu, but you might as well just do away with the immobiliser

best bet is to keep the vts keyfob and swap the key itself into the fob. So you keep all the immobiliser stuff + your current lock set

Thing is, im going to have to put the new immobiliser in to start it! Im not sure the ECU has been unlocked when the guy took it out. (I assume its the same idea, ie turn on the car, take the imobiliser out then turn off the car job done)
From what you say, in order to start the car id need the ignition barrel from the vts? Surely i can use my existing ignition barrel with the new immobiliser....please ha.
If i dont need the barrel, then i can start it by holding the VTS key near like i said? Not sure about swapping the chip in the key (Keys without buttons)..is that easy to do?

to start the new vts engine yould will need the ecu, immobiliser, pick up ring, and key
as i said im sure you could just plug the pick up ring in put the new key in it plug the new immobiliser in and then start the car with the old key/barrel and then once its running pull out the immobilser box out and the ecu will be unlcoked and then you do do away with the new immobiliser/pickup ring and key and then use your original keys etc
