i was cleaning the throttle body on my vtr and noticed there is a big wedge on the butterfly. just wanting to know if there would be any point in removing it or just leave it as it is. my old g40 polo was the same and it was recomended that i removed it as it was restricting the airflow.

It's called porting or gasflowing, it's an alright modifications and can make a difference to throttle response and MAYBE add a little BHP.

Yours a silvertop right? Grind the lip down if you want but be careful, it's not something a total amatuer can do in a shed if you want best results.

the wedge is screwed onto the butterfly so it can just be unscrewed and the holes filled with chemical metal. will give it a go in the morning. the car is a 98 90bhp is that a silvertop lol?
