Hey everyone,
I am new to the Citroen make of cars. This car was given to me because it "did not run". It wouldnt idle, so i adjusted the idle and drove it home. It is stuck in Limp Home mode but I am working that issue out (just waiting on my OBD2 computer to arrive in the mail). The engine model is usually easy for me to figure out but im having trouble with this make of car on getting a clear answer. So maybe some of you experts can clear it up for me. The car is a 2001 Saxo, it has Chrono printed on one of the doors. And here is the engine(needs some tidying up for sure)

Okay so the 1.4. Thanks guys. I forgot to mention, the car has power windows, power locks and the back seat is split so you can fold either side down(i heard this didnt come standard on the base models). I dont know if that would help narrow the options of engines

hmmmmm dunno then. can you get the engine code and someone on here help that way? isnt there like 3 or 4 numbers or letters on the engine code so we can tell what it is or will it not be same there again?
i wouldnt say its a 1.4, my 1.4 (but only 1plug ecu) the tb casing is flat and square.that one looks bumpyish lol

EDIT: see what i mean how mine is smooth:

Post a pic of the whole car. Might help establish a model and therefore what engines came in that model.

I searched Saxo chrono on a German site. Got this... http://www.autoscout24.de/ListGN.aspx?vis=1&state=A&atype=C&make=21&model=1710&version=Chrono&cy=D&page=1&maxresults=500&results=20&ustate=N,U&um=True&sort=price&rfde=True&pool=1&flzh=1

It's a 1.1 it seems.

engine code is contained in the vin number, HFX,HDZ,something like that, think HFX is the multi point injection 1.1

They did ..
Vtr's had a airbag in the steering wheel and Vts's also had steering wheel airbag and passenger dash airbag.

Airbag'd seats were fitted to 01+ Vts along with the three plug ecu and egr system!
IIRC it was an option on the 01+ R!

Bags weren't fitted across the range as the saxo was sold as a cheap car - so would have raised prices!

Strange it looks like a VTR

3 plug VTR would have the larger rad then that, thought we had sussed out from chassis number it was a 1.1. If it really needs settling, can the OP please tell us if it has an aluminium or cast iron block?
