ok so i bought a 106 an it has in it a vtr blacktop lump

bascally i was told it was remapped to the bigger injectors it has in it,

but i checked the cam belt an it has a BAKER BM cam pully on it, its red in colour

does this mean its cammed?

also if its been mapped to these injectors (also has a fuel pressure regulater)

it dont seem much quicker than my mates vtr?

could i advance/retard the cam to make it any quicker?

any help is appreciated :)

I should say its likely if its can an vernier adjustable pulley but perhaps not. Sure fire way to to whip the cam end over off (next to the stat) and look for codes or stamps or under the rocker cover. Bare if mind you'll need to reseal it with some loctite or similar as theres usually oil in there but thats par for the course

how does it idle mate? and is the rev limit removed?

a cammed vtr should be quicker than standard. could be a bad engine, or your carrying more weight. does the other vtr have modifications?

may not have a cam in as you can bolt the vernier pulleys to the standard cams.

but im betting on it hasnt been mapped.

Ok so you were told it had been remapped with bigger injectors but not a higher lift cam. If thats true...then wheres the extra air coming from to warrent the use of larger injectors?

the rev limet seems normal mate, i know either its been mapped or unlocked as it has the company sticker an a warrenty seal on the ecu

it idels fine, sometimes they stick after a gear change

why would someone put just a pully on it? would it increase preformence?

i dont know db sax

but the injectors in it do seem big, an there is a pressure regulator for the fuel, on the gauge when the car is running the needle sits at 2

this, to me, doesnt add up.

why would some one run bigger injectors, if not fitting a mad cam and having it remapped.

if the rev limiter is still there this suggests its not been mapped. if its not been mapped, the the idle would be erratic, thats if its a wildish cam.

then again, when you say you 106 isnt "that much quicker' its not really going to be 3/4 car lengths ahead. but you should pull a bit on him even with bad gear changes. and it should show its quicker atleast.

I`d suggest putting the car on a good dyno to check.

Are you sure its a blacktop VTR engine? Could be a cammed 1.6 rallye/xsi engine if the injectors look like silver like this or the same as these with a black body:
