Anyone got any ideas? This problem is doing my nut in.
The timing belt snapped on my saxo 2002 furio. I put new valves in head gasket set, plugs, filtre, etc, to make sure everything was ok. Even did the thermostat. Seems to run ok.
However it has failed 3 times now on emmisions. The last time they said it was so bad they couldn't read it.
The question I want to ask is this:
The MOT tester said the car exhaust is loud could this be a symptom of the emmisions. That is could the timing be out?
I am thinking this because I didn't do the work.
In the old days of being able to turn the distributor around to do the ignition timing you could get the a car to make loud pops from the exhaust (timing out). Is this what needs checking on my saxo?
To be honest I've spent around £400 with bits here and bits there and I just feel like stripping it for parts.

Ive got a decat and rallye injectors and mine runs very very rich so I might be in the same boat as you. Check your lambda sensor, cat and CTS these can have an effect on the fuelling.

Which part of the emissions test is it failing on? Have you got the print out??

No read out sheet. Said it was too bad to register but I think it was the exhaust put them off.
I'll look for old ones where it failed.
