View Full Version : Could I get my saxo eastcoast 1.1 to beat my friends 1.25 fiesta?

cribbton

We've both just got cars and he think because he has a bigger engine size he'll beat me.

I haven't even passed my test yet but by time i pass (in one months time hopefully) I want my car to be ready to beat his.

what can I do?

geraintthomas

So immature ¬_¬ just enjoy your first car!

Pau1os
14th October 2011, 09:11
yours is lighter so it probably will beat his.
i had my 1.1 eastcoast maxed out at like 108mph haha

cribbton
14th October 2011, 09:19
how did you get it to do that speed? did you change it in anyway? I can't imagine I could get mine to do 100.

I was hoping if I changed a few things like the air filter, oil filter and plugs I'd get a bit more out of her.

You're going to fit in so well here.

The answer btw is, they're both shit slow, so it doesn't matter if one of your granny engined cars is quicker than the other.

Also, not even passed your test and already planning on street racing? You'll be a statistic before long, and another reason for my insurance to go up from the claims resulting from your inevitable crash.

geraintthomas
14th October 2011, 10:14
And FYI - I've got an East Coast 1.0ltr. I was in a bit of an emergency the other day and I did close to 100mph on the motorway. The 1.0 is actually 954cc and the 1.1 is actually 1124cc, so it's almost 200cc larger than the 1.0. My point is, yes yours would comfortably do over 100mph.

You've got to put a supercharger in it mate, that'll take it from currently 234.56 bhp to around 945.34 bhp.

Quids in then ...

Peter_D
14th October 2011, 10:58
My old Mk4 Fiesta 1.25 marginally beat a 106 Quiksilver and a 1.4 Westcoast

Just had an exhaust, induction kit and was stripped out..so i doubt your Saxophone would beat his

cribbton
14th October 2011, 11:12
I can't remember saying street racing. By beat I mean out perform and yes just generally be quicker and be able to over take him.

So rest assure little buddy I'm not going to organize a race down a race through a school area.

You will be able to overtake easily if you aint racing.

Why would you want to overtake your mate anyway if you aint racing, you will both be going to the same place and if not, it aint a race is it. If you aint going the same place then theres no need to overtake a car you can hardly go faster than as he will turn off or you will and it would be a pointless overtake.

Basically you want to race

I think your mates Fiesta will beat you tbh, the 1.25 Zetecs are nippy, but itll be quite close

Racing on public roads aint big and it isn't clever though!!!11

But its fun, i must of had a good 50+ races all in, had 4 on my 1st night driving after passing my test, my win/loss record started off bad with a 0.33 W/L ratio after just one night, but its alot better these days

biggest thing is mate most people are hardcore enthusiasts and enjoy modding their saxo's and making them their own, but what they don't like is being tarnished with the same brush as the twatty chavs who street race take corners too fast and crash- claim and put everyones insurance up.

don't feel angrey mate, if you had asked how you could get cheap insurance for a vtr/s you would have got similar replys, atleast you have got a car wthin you means of insuring ect.

but to answer your question if it wans't close he would beat you, the 1.25 zetec revs better has a better fueling system ( multi point not spi)

we've all done itinfact i sometimes do it when you get people pull up he side of you at traffic lights on dual carridgeways. so will race them up to 60 but stay there, bit stupid i know, but is the biggest thrill i get in my car with the clothes on ;)

Wow we have another champion on board, welcome to saxP. Your attitude hopefully might change when you will crash. You know the prices of repairs, the price of your premium going up, killing someone or yourself, injuries, or a plainclothed or off duty cop giving you a race then giving you some points and a fine. This sounds like childish philosophy to say that you're doing nothing wrong as long as you don't get caught.

It will come back and bite you in the ass at some point. Even if you don't think so, it's only a matter of time.

Then...when I wanna be proper cool I rag it across Mcds carpark n rip my handbrake up.

Very very few people will...doesnt mean we dont respect them though!!! I will do 32mph in a 30...over the limit? Yes. Would I do 40 in a 30? Nope, I wouldnt. Unless it was a SERIOUS emergency. In my eyes, that still shows respect for the law as you dont push your luck. If your opinion is that there is no respect shown...thats your opinion.
Do I enjoy my B-road drives? Occasionaly yes, I do. I still wont do 'excessive' speeds though.

Then smarten up. Your first posts are you claiming to rag the shit out of your car, then posting your ID, facebook, photo of your car with plate and details. Don't even bother trying to delete it because mods can access modified content even if you edited it, then the police by law can request access to content should you be given a court trial.

There are some police officers being members in here, you will give them a giggle or two as you have admitted to causing serious offence twice. Then non members can also read this. If anything serious should happen (and it will if you carry on), don't forget the KY. You're not larger than life, and you certainly cannot see what is in the next blind corner. Not sure if troll, but I'll bite...

We were all new to the roads at some point and had a bit of fun with our first cars... But seriously, if you're going to "rag" your car against your friends, go do it somewhere you know will be deserted.

On another note, your 1.1 is probably already quicker to 60 (that's all that matters in boy racer terms) than the 1.25 Fiesta - I've driven both. Decent first cars, but most definitely not racing material, and especially not on the streets. So congrats on winning the car equivalent of the Special Olympics :y:

if i end up a statistic atleast ill be part of something and whilst im racin i concentrate more than when im not and to be fair i know when not to like round town centres or busy times of the day or near schools, mainly on a and b roads, but the b roads are much more fun

Good, hope when you are part of something you don't make anyone else a part of the same thing.

Have fun dying mate.

lol at the list of poor excuses to be honest. OH I'm all good because I don't trash it near schools during rush hour. Makes you an angel instantly doesn't it. Sounds like you will learn the hard way, just don't kill your mates or some innocent civilian(s) in the process. Karma will get you round the bend at some point.

Go somewhere like TheYNC and have a look at some of the crash aftermath videos. If this isn't enough to put you off, it's only a matter of time before you and your car create a mangled human/crumpled metal lovechild.

lol i find this quite funny i am actually bein serious i enjoy racing and ive already been caught once in a 1.1 and now im in a vts and im probably worse but hey ho its all part of the fun. and i do enjoy doin a few handbrake turns..
i could sit there admiring how nice the bodywork is and how good of a job ive dont polishing the wheel bolts and engine bay like 90% of you on here but id rather drive my car and have fun in it than shed a tear everytime i get it a tiny bit dirty :)

To be fair... Whilst street racing is for complete noshers. You do have a good point!

Many on this forum would rather sit in and build a high spec car just so they can brag about it on the internet (i don't even need to mention names...). It's much more fun in a semi standard saxo to just go out and have a decent B road blast.

+green rep for you.

On the other hand, having your mates pull your handbrake up etc? thats a grade A douche mistake, and should be left in the macD's car park with the rest of the chavs.

ah well, saxo's are owned by cunts - thats just a fact of life.

Your idea of "fun" could become your worse nightmare.

Please...

get off your high horse man. the police aren't going to spend all day trolling through a saxo forum.

Hi mate,

I think to beat his 1.25 you would have to undo your manifold and bolt it on upside down than cut a hole on the bonnet for the screamer pipe. next for the cold air feed attach it right next to the manifold as the hotter the air the engine sucks in the fast you go, how do you think ferraris etc reach such high mph..

handling; firstly id add some bricks in the boot to make the car lower thus less resistance. for the front id chop the shockers and springs down and re-weld them up.

tbh, best thing you can do is be a better driver than him, neither car has a massive advantage, just make sure you can handle your car before even thinking about it, or everyone on here will be proved right :)

i dont knwo what ashley put, but get rid of weight, cheapest option :)

ok, I apologise. The guy should feel free to drive like a knob, and you are 100% right to back him up. Also thanks for the feedback Mr. P, first time ever I hear the word "dogshit" though I suspect this is motivated by the desire to make a personal attack on me.

I'm curious to see your website and hear your mixes. If mine ranks as "dogshit", then I guess you must have produced some legendary stuff. Please enlighten me with your mixing science.

Wanna race, take it to a track and see how good you are at racing..

when u kill someone and/or yourself, we'll see how much u brag about it after (if you dont kill yourself)

Fed up of people thinking just because you own a saxo, your some little chav that races everything and rips up hand brake and drives like a dick!. but you read comments like his and realise thats why!!

Hahaha QUALITY THREAD!

I agree with this, if you think you can race or want to race take it to a track and do it properly in controlled conditions.
And about everyone thinking your a chav if you own a saxo... this is exactly why, if you want to show off by 'overtaking your mate' why dont you just make your saxo your own and show off that way or just buy something else?

This. Also, don't forget to save some weight. Remove the driver's airbag and seatbelt (did you know that combined, these can weigh up to 400kg?!). And remember, make sure to take corners quickly, otherwise you'll get cold tyres and crash :y:

each to their own some people would rather 'make a car their own' and pay alot of money to do it but i wouldnt say its worth doin that to a saxo to be honest. but some people would rather show off their car by overtaking, which is the way id rather do it, and all the people i know with cars when were out will all do the same try and be the fastest as its more fun than sitting one behind the other for miles on end :)

so i just passed my test 4 months ago? i drive sensible... my insureance wouldnt let me drive till i had a traker fitted so they could keep an eye on me....

after 90 days i got a £370 reduction on my insurance premium... does the make me a cunt?

cos to be honest im 19 i got a 1.4 saxo.... yeah the 1st time i drove on my own i felt like racing but then i thought about the consequences... i remembered how my granparents were in a accident and someone speeding crashed into them (that survived after the metro was rolled 3 times)

if people say "i dont want to drive like a grandma you pretty much saying "i want to die in a crash" is that cool? does it make you feel big after you have ruined someone elses life? because one day you will speed around a corner too fast swerve to avoid something and crash into the front of a oncoming lorry... then will you be bragging? no because you would be DEAD! enough said....

Ok, voice of some mild experience here.
As many on here will jump at the chance to tell you, i drive like a tit at times. Now im all for putting your foot down on a familiar backroad with noone around, i had a little race with a ford fiesta up the a1 once on a stretch i knew had no cameras, at 2 oclock in the monring when it was dead. But i lost control once, and almost payed for it, then the second time, my car went in a ditch because i had failed to notice some of the simplest of factors had changed (like my tyres had gone that low that they had less grip than a guy trying to wank over jodie marsh) Now, im stuck getting lifts to work, my gfs parents hate me because she was in the car with me, and im going to be branded a 'shit driver' in the realms of sax-p for all eternity.

Drive safely, know when to fuck around, and never drive too fast on an unfamiliar road or when there can be others around.

anyway, its been weeks and from what i can tell, your not dead. so who won the race ;)

I was walking around thinking I was cool having a snotty pea clinging to my face when the school bully started chanting "Tom's a pea freak, tom's a pea freak".

Haven't touched a fucking pea since, little green bully baid bastards.

Lol mate, you honestly expected people not to reply to you like this? You obviously do want to race your mate, god knows why when both your cars are slow as hell. My mate has a 1.0 east coast, changed his air filter n couple other bits, he got like 2hp more lol. They say most people crash their 1st car, i can see you will be one of those people. If you didnt want a lecture in safety then you shouldnt of put up such a dumbass thread. You should listen to these messages because people are talking sense, enjoy your 1st car, dont chav it up, drive like a cock n try out doing your mates, its not clever n you just look like a twat. Also changing your oil and plugs wont make it quicker lmfao! xD

Nearly spat out my breakfast when reading this :panic:

Driving live a cunt on a public road is.... well...... cuntish.
Everyone puts their foot down sometimes but there is a time and a place and its certainly not every time you get in the car....unless of course you want to end up a statistic.

Not sure how old you are but I am guessing, not old enough to know better. Either that or an adult who has Peter Pan syndrome.

People never take into account: Road conditions, weather conditions, visibility, other drivers, brakes, suspension. You should watch the WRC and enjoy that, not try to replicate the same in your shitbox of a 1.1 Saxo...

Dude, don't listen to them, heres the steps on how to beat your mate's fiesta or whatever it is...

1- buy a mistubishi Evo9 mr.

2- i know it's expensive, but as they say since you can afford an Evo 9 you can afford a Toyota supra...

3- so, buy a toyota supra.

4- open the hood of the evo, you should find an engine (if you dont know what that is; search for it ); if you can find it, you're in the right way so far ! go to next step

5- now, disassemble the whole ride.

6- take the turbo engine from it, and place it in the Saxo... ( again if you dont know how to do that; ask a dentist obviously )

PS: if you don't find a turbo there, read step 3 ! then re read step 6 !

7- don't forget; the hood !! it's everything to make the turbo work ! ... so close it.

8- enjoy the beat up !

9- dont PM me :y:

10- Praise the mod so he doesn't warn me for the bump :y:

have a nice day
