2 different problems:
Today i replaced me rocker cover gasket. Took old one off, replaced with the new and put back togetherhen i started the little beastie up after it sounded like a transit van. After having to drive to work with it it seems to have quietened down again. any suggestions???
Also,
Normally I go for tescos 95 unleaded petrol. Last thursday I put a full tank of BP 95 unleaded in. Now i've used bout 3/4 of the tank and i get a rattling noise which sounds like my engine is going to fall from the chassis. Is this "Pinking"? How can it be fixed? Would just filling up with tescos stuff do the job?
Please help moi.
Cheers guys

dont think the different petrol will have caused anything mate. but i dont use supermarket petrol stations as iv heard they are not as good quality (IE the cheapest shittest stuff they can legally sell), go to shell or BP IMO.
when putting the gasket cover back on did you make sure the little washers under the cover were in place? as this is what makes the cover sit still and holds the thing in place lol
cant help you with the rest though sorry

can you describe in more detail what a transit van sounds like? i drive one pretty much eeryday but people`s definitions vary;)
"pinking" issue shouldn`t be down to petrol used. did it start rattling pretty much after you`d changed the rocker cover? also can you pin point best you can where the rattling is coming from?

whats the clutch gonna do? nout.
its impossible to tell you what the noise was, and pinking cant happen on idle as there is no load.

When i replaced the rocker cover gasket i did it up tightish, started up up n it seemed really clicky.
The "pinking" noise sounds like exhaust rattling but its not, only does it when I put my foot down harshly on accelerator when the car is underload or going up a hill. its weird. Might check engine mounts though.
