106 and saxo exhaust

will a 106 gti center section and backbox fit on to my 1.1 desire ?

yes and no. it will fit the manifold but wont line up with the hangars properly. should be the same bore though

You can fit it, but it will sit to the right of where it should

Basically the centre sections are mostly the same. The gti has a 50mm bore so you may find your manifold is too small for the gasket to fully seat in the cup but as long as you get a seal you are ok. I'd maybe help things with some high temp silicone sealer.
The 106 backbox sits in a different position though. I'm not sure if the mounting points on the chassis are different but the backbox hanger arms certainly are.
