I just got an exhaust manifold from the scrapyard and I would like to give it a good clean-up before I fit it. What's the best way to clean it up? I thought I would jet wash it, would that be good enough?
Cheers

Assuming it's a standard cast mani spraying water on it would be the last thing I'd do. Just sand it down and spray it with black vht paint mate. Will look good.

Yes, it's the standard manifold. Thanks for the advice. I meant more for the inside of the manifold in fact, there's a bit of black stuff in the pipes, I'd like to remove it before I fit the manifold, I thought it would be better. Can I sand the inside as well or does it sound like a stupid idea?

PS: Nice bike, I'm actually looking for a 600 (Fazer or similar), and would like to get rid of the car.

Cheers mate. It's for sale. As for inside block off one end with anythin you can and fill it with petrol. Paint stripper might work but I use petrol. Let it soak and wire brush it.

i sandblased mine then sprayed it heat proof black. looked new!
no reason to sandblast it really though, a wire brush would do!
