Right then, i have a 1.4 98 westcoast that has a running problem with the car. I have posted previously months back and got some decent replies but really need help from people that know what htere talking about atm.

Anyway the problem with the car is that it runs and idles really lumpy and will nearly eveytime stall when you try to rev it, unless you rev it hard and keep it reving. This is whilst the car is sat still and still did it whilst driving or coming to stops when i had it on the road.

I tried the coilpack so bought a brand new one from gsf and that didnt clear the problem, then a mechanic friend came over and told us that the headgasket ha gone and that we had a sticking valve, so over this weekend we stripped it down had the head off, to which the headgasket was fucked, cleaned the head up and all the valves which had lots of carbon build up and one looked as if it was sticking, lapped them all in, tehn changed the water pump put the new jead gasket on and new cam belt, and re assembled.

Got it running last night and it is still doing exactly the same, runs lumpy, just dies but it will eventully clear run smooth and rev normal but then shortly return

Please help me with this because otherwise im just gonna scrap it and its too much of a good car to do that really.

No saxp noobs saying it might be this or that, tbh i really need the help of the guys that know there shit about saxos.

Many thanks

vince

have you tested your battery and alternator? Also check all your earth cables...

This sounds like Idle Control Valve. Seriously would've gone straight to this without spending all that time and money!!

Whip it off, give it a clean and see how it goes. Very common problems with Saxo's and Fiestas.

icv was the first thing checked, didnt help at the time, also as i remember he has changed the lambda sensor,
it is more than likely a sensor issue now m8, but could be a number of things.

as above, give everything a look over and clean if needed. I had problems like that with my clio. was a lambda sensor in the end....

Could well be the green temperature sensor, I replaced this last on my old 106 and it was the cheapest part but the one part that sorted it.

If i was you i would get it checked out with a diagnostics tester, and perhaps a exhaust analyzer. Everything else is just guessing....
