Hi guys!

I've given up on the gti track car, so instead I'm thinking of putting the engine in my vtr. Although I've been looking Around the forum To find out what it exactly is that I need and people are saying that I should get the 16v conversion parts from the same year as the car I'm putting it into. Basically I want to know if I can take all the necessary parts from the gti bring an r reg and if I will have any problems fitting them to the x reg vtr (bearing in mind that the gti is 1 plug and the vtr is 3)

Help? I'm mega confused.

Cheers, Shannon.

yes you'll have loom problems

The r reg 106 loom.wont fit any saxo at all

It has 2 plugs to the interior loom wjere as all saxos have one which varies in size
So youll need to rewire that end of the loom with your vtr plug

Or get an appropriate vts loom however w,x,y reg cars are all changeover and they seem to be a mash of some late parts and whatever early parts they had left in the factory so looms on them become nightmares as one end will be 3 plug stuff the other single and sensors/injectors ect are a pain too

X reg VTR has the Single Plug ECU with the larger Multi-Plug next to the passengers side headlight. Otherwise known as one very rare loom!

I searched the web for 6 months, went through various scrap yards, and I couldn't get hold of one!

The loom will need splicing at the interior plugs as mentioned but i wouldnt let it put you off. If you dont fancy doing it yourself theres plenty of people and companies that will do it for you.

All just sounds like alot of trouble, the only reason I was going to do it was because I have the whole car lol so, I thought it would have been cheaper! Lol

i'm sure you could just swap the interior loom from the gti iirc don't hold me to it as i've not done this myself
