whats the best and cheapest way to get it to its former glory? ive seen a 'race tube' on ebay for 40, anyone had one of these?

cheers

So they fitted a std middle pipe? Get your old one back off them and re fit it! Simple really

Why did they fit parts to MOT it? They shouldnt be replacing things without your consent

Kick up a fuss, they shouldn't have fitted it, and they deff shouldnt have binned your stainless.

Worst comes to the worst, your best bet for. a second hand one would be in the for sale section here ot eBay, supersprint ones seem to be the choice item

Fuck that, they've robbed you of a stainless centre section and decat? Bet its on someones car now or cut up for scrap

I'd be going wild with them. Its clearly an aftermarket part fitted to the car. They can't just throw it away. Wont have been cheap when bought new.

If I was you, I would be asking them to pay up for the centre section they took off without consent and threw away.

i know! tell me about it, they said they were not going to do anything until they asked me, and they never, i did kick off about it but they said they had to do it to pass its emissions test. it was just a straight through stainless, sure it was a supersprint one, has a 2" tail pipe, sounded the nuts.

he said he couldnt save it as he had to chop it. ive had my pants pulled down.

Then he should have told you before cutting into your parts.

Thats fucking un-heard of mate, to replace parts without consent is one thing but to dispose of an aftermarket product without consent is another entirely!

You need to speak to management and look at their terms and conditions etc. you didnt sign anything when you dropped the car into them that stated they could replace parts upon requirement did you?

Have you been listening to what everyone's saying? Yes it had to pass the MOT, but they must give you consent when cutting into your after market parts. They should have informed you of what they're going to do first, not willingly sliced it in half.

"Hmm, these HID's are illegal. We'll bin these, it must pass". The same thing - if they said that to you I'm sure you won't be impressed.

Get on to their management, you didn't give consent, they didn't ask permission. You've plenty of ground to stand on.

I'm quite surprised you gave in to be honest. If they needed to change the exhaust then I'd expect the garage to contact you - because for all they know you could have said:

"Change the whole system for me, I'll pay the extra. I'd rather keep my after market part".

Do you see what we mean?

Talk to consumer direct.

They might help you get some money out of them.

Personally if I had the receipt for the exhaust they cut into, I'd put it on their desk and ask them to pay for it.

Take them to trading standards mate. It's a 100% win if what your saying is true. If a car comes in our garage with a decat ( and we don't know them) it fails then you get told what it needs and how much it would be to fit. It's other a saxsport or a kam racing. Get a price for them both £250-£260 I think. Ring trading standards up an they'll tell you to go down with the price and demand it back.

Like everyone's said bud..you've been fucked over. They aren't allowed to change anything without getting your consent if you're absent.

Get trading standards on it and demand they buy you a new one. Find a mid-priced stainless one and just say it's that one and that they have to pay for it. They've robbed you of what is yours..if the pipe costs £70 and theyve gotten rid for a standard one then they owe you the original pipe back or the £70 if theyve done it without consent. If trading standards give you the same advice and it does nothing, take them to small claims court, they've got fuckall to stand on without a signed piece of paper saying that you've given consent for them to fuck around with your car in your absence.
