Manifold Help!

Hi guys im looking in to getting an aftermarket manifold that still has the cat on (not de-cat) for my furio. Reason being is I have a rather annoying hole that is causing excessive noise. I was going to get round to getting one later but might aswell do it now to get rid of the hole.

if your cat is in the manifold then you have the mk2 oil filter set up, if it's under the car you have old set up.

y reg is a cross over iirc so not sure which one you have, but that would work for you definately.

i would advise though, whilst your doing this to just decat the car anyway, not only does it sound better, the car is much more responsive right through the rev range...

i know because i got the exact same manifold on my furio last week :)

not trying to hijack your thread or anything here.... but mlawlan did you notice a definate power increase/ sound increase and is it worth the money you paid for it etc? ive been looking into a new mani for my vtr but not sure if its worth the price considering i dont know anyone thats done it, let me know what you think of yours? :P

I dont want a decat though as I dont want hassle come mot time!

just use a mk1 exhaust with cat in the centre pipe to get it through the MOT.

at the end of the day a decat is definately worth the 10 mins A YEAR to change, if you did it i promise you that you wouldn't regret it.

it is your decision and your car, but whilst going through the hassle of putting a manifold on, i would.

manifold cost me £80 fitting cost me about £30 all the parts direct from citreon cost me £25 so a little over £130.

it is bar nothing the best thing i have yet done to my car, i have a full supersprint exhaust on it, and the noise it makes is fucking wild.

the power is also much smoother, it easily revs up to 6-7k.

really cheesy, but with the old manifold on, the car was effectively being choked, now the cat has gone, its able to push out the exhaust fumes much quicker, thus put more petrol into the chamber quicker, i have noticed a massive difference off the line.

just do it, promise you wont regret it ha :panic:

So as I am a complete novice at all of this, I will explain my plan of action...
I would like to change the whole exhaust system in time once funds are available, but manifold first. So if I was to buy a aftermarket mani and a back box, could I buy 2 centre pipes, one de cat and one standard for MOT? I will check exactly where my cat is in the morning but does this sound feesable and how hard is an exhaust refit??

sounds feesable to me.

an exhaust is very easy to fit, the only difficult part is fitting the manifold, and even then, it's not that hard UNLESS you have the mk2 oil filter set up.

basically, if you buy that raceland manifold, and your cat is inside your down pipe, you will have to do this:

if however, your cat is under the car, that manifold will go straight on.
