its a loop hole... if youve just bought a car your more likely to have a bump in it then you would in a car your used to and have had for say 5 years... doesnt mean you werent learning for 5 years in this car..

but just got to think..you put that and your not old enough to have done that...then the company catches on and cancels your insurance without informing you...becasue they do that. you get cuaght and your fucked!

aswell as get caught any otherway and your fucked

fucking hell! did a quote on a vts, i said i bought the car in may 2011 and it was 4800
changed it to september 2007 went down to 3400

but can i ask if you did do that, do you have to provied the insurers with documentation of when you bought the car? my dad sorted my insurance out for me ( im paying him back every month for the insurance before anyone jumps in) and he's out atm so cant ask him

No they won't check.

If you crash however and they can prove you didn't, you won't get paid.

If you crashed - why would they ask "prove when you brought this car"?

You could just say it's been lying in the garage for years and you've been doing it up year by year ready for your 17th or whenever you get insured as you've had a keen interest in cars since you was young? Or could you not say your dads owned it for 5 years? Eitherway I've put 2010 as the purchase date, as it saves me 300 odd quid lol

:)

because theyll do anything not to pay out, and when the look into the details when processing your payout....after youve given the car up to them

then will see on the v5 the date you purchased the car!

It's a grey area this one because they ask 'How long have you owned the car'

The log bog is not proof of ownership, you could of owned it for 10 years and only just changed the log book for all they know.

Your parents could have bought the car before you could drive

I wouldn't lie on my policy simply because mine is cheap anyway but if you want to take the risk then it's upto you...

BTW has anyone ever done an online quote with Elephant? Do you have to pay more when you ring up and ask to pay monthly?

£1425.68 FC for me mate, online (on their site)

Rang up, they wanted £2200ish..

So now I'm paying £1750 TPF+T for 10 months (accelerator).

If I had've known about this little thing, I would've done it when I got my insurance tbh.

i dont really see how that matters, as long as they never drive it. ive always wondered if you could make a person up to put on your insurance. they're obviously never going to drive it so will it matter?

Didnt mean dangerous driving on its own, you got points because you was caught doing something that is not allowed. There for you got points and your a risky driver why insurance companys are pulling your pants down.

I know that, i was just wondering if there are any more " loop holes "

I got my first 3 points for having half a rear L plate on my 50cc bike at 16 years old....

3 points when i was 17, drove up to yarmouth with a few cars and on the way my indicator relay burnt out, so had no indicators, got pulled and 3 points for it. They also placed a prohibition order on the car ( not allowed to drive it until its fixed )

They told me i had to get the car recoverd back to northampton from yarmouth... would have cost around £500 so in the morning i walked to garage and brought new relay, put it in and drove it home, week later was driving to get new car and it burnt out again, police pulled me another 3 points.
