Hey, i had a look around the forum and couldnt find the answer to my question in a direct form (sorry if there is one and i missed it).

My car was having issues idling so took it to the garage and they played with it, said it was the throttle body and though they have "kinda" got it working to sort it 100% i would need a new one which would be something like £400!!! :fcuk:

So i was looking for a second hand one and found this on ebay: -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180752779383#ht_500wt_1022

now, i have a mk2 saxo furio - is a throttle body universal in the sense that it dont matter if its a mk1/mk2 and also does the part number (PSA 642 355, 9 -COO) corrispond with the item and will it work with my car?

Have to say, since i got it back its a whole new car! ive had it for 6months and i always knew there was something wring since its all sluggish and generally not as speedy as i thought it would be - driving back from the garage was ALOT of fun and it sounds better as well which makes me a happy lad!

So anyway ,feedback would be really useful if any of you know the answer to my questions :A:

They most likely cleaned it as it was full of shite.. I doubt you would actually need to replace it. If it is running sweet now besides an idle problem. I would say try replacing the Idle control valve first.

Describe the idling issue.

apparently it had a crack in it as well so they did suggest a replacement one.

when starting up you had to rev it a bit and then keep your foot on the accelerator else it would cut out. When going down to 1st/2nd gear it would also cut out and this was pretty much every time so junctions and roundabouts were a complete nightmare!!

I took it to one garage last week and they simply didnt know what to do with it since they thought it was an electrical issue (no error codes when they checked it though)so they suggested i go to this place (hodge bros in soton) who apparently specialise in Citroen's. These are the guys who looked at it and said throttle body etc.

If there is a crack and they are Citroen Specialists then i would go with what they have said.

If the part number is the same as the one on your throttle body then it will be the same yes. The throttle bodies tend to vary between the models. Unsure if Mk1 and Mk2 are the same though.
