Seems theres a fair few exhaust related questions flying about so i guess ill just have to add another....

Why do all 4 branch manifolds fit up till 2000 reg and not 2001? Something to do with the cat being there im guessing? it is the cat isn't it?

Can u get a 4 branch on a 2001 plate and keep it legal?

Thanks...:geek:

if you have a 4 branch manifold for a mk2 (2001) you can still keep it legal cause you can put a mk1 vtr cat and centre section on.

im sure the mk2 has a cat on the manifold instead of under the gearbox as on the mk1??
the mk2 also has 2 sensors on the manifold where as the mk1 has only 1

There's also the issue of having to change the position of the oil filter on some later vtr models.

Up to W reg I think it is has the Cat underneath after that I think they are all on the manifold

i know the cat is underneath on a mk1 and in the manifold in a mk2 but he was askin if he could have a performance manifold on his mk2 but still keep it legal so i was just explaining that he could put a mk1 manifold back system on and that would include the cat and he still has his 4 branch!

So which sensor would go into the cat?

And what would you do with the sensor that has nowhere to go, if you were to put a mk1 manifold back system on a mk 2?

i think cituning do a manifold for the 98bhp model with a built in sports cat but its big money

the sensor with green wire goes into the manifold

you will have to get a lamba sleeve from gmc for the other sensor

while your on the phone to gmc get one of there manifolds to get the one for both models and you dont need to move the oil filter

Ok so what would you do with the sensor in the sleeve?

just tie rap it out of the way

just tie rap it out of the way

Looks very messy imo but it keeps it out the way and stops the engine management light from lighting up as the car is aware of the lack of cat :)
