I want to cleanup my engine bay and just wonderd would water cause damage to the alternator?
Also should i cover up the coil pack bit where theres all wires an that comming from it? Im not a technical engine person lol thanks :bored: :A:

Put it this way if you want your car to start/run properly then yes cover up your electrics.I hope your not(for your sake)going to jet wash the engine.

ive jetwashed engines loads of times.

might just have an issue for the first few moments of running but would be fine other wise from previous experience.

Same, ive jetwashed loads of engines and i jet wash my own.....

I did fuck it one time though the coilpack had a crack in it which i hadnt noticed and moisture got in. but the pack was faulty

wasnt goin to jetwash it dont want to risk that lol was goin to give a quick hose then clean with turlewax cd2 engine cleaner then hose it off again. Still not 100% confident to use the hose tho :p

won't hurt alternator one bit, in fact when we've had alternators packed with mud and silt the best thing for them is to wash them out with fresh water

If the alternator would be affected by water dont you think it would cut out everytime you drove in the rain..

Not sure i dont see why soo much water would get on it when driving through the rain if it did surely loads of steam would be comming from my bonnet cause of it evapurating so quick cause of the heat :s

I'd never jetwash my engine . done it once before and learn my lesson .lol

You don't think a lot of water gets into the bay when doing motorway speeds in the rain?

True,but having jet wash my engine last year & had it misfire until I took it for a long drive I won`t be doing it again.:drink:
