Never meddled with a mk2 before, is there anything I need to be aware of with regards to the EGR valve when changing the exhaust manifold? Or does it just all come out?

I've changed umpteen manifolds. Just never seen this gubbins of an EGR valve on the manifold before...
Do I have to blank anything off on the engine? There seems to be something leading off to the head?

if you look on the head where egr pipe goes theres two bolts take them out pipe comes off you need to block it with a plate i have one you can have for free if you pick up guess ur binning egr valve

Hi sorry to drag this up from the past! Really useful and read couple of other threads saying you don't need the EGR valve. I'm about to put a Janspeed mani on my 2003 VTS and was wondering what shall I block the head with?? Is it something I can pick up easily?

just a small plate is needed to blank the hole, can be bought or made cheap

Yeah seems to be pretty straight forward just my mechanic skills are pretty lacking to say the least. After 7 years of driving I'm finally coming round to doing things myself!
Just wondered if someone knew where I could actually buy one from can't be more than a couple quid just I'd rather not ram a quid in my engine head or attempt and likely fail at making one.

i used to sell these at one point. When the mk2 first came out and people went mad for removing the EGR. Ill have a look to see if i have 1 lying around.

I ended up using the original pipe bracket and covered the hole up with a piece of a fosters can and some exhaust paste!
Its held so far...
