engine code...

Bit of a long shot here but I have an engine code out of a 1.6 peugeot 106 xsi and I need to know which engine it is!
Engine code is:
fx0w0338992
It seems to long for an engine code but my college instructor (I study motor mechanics) is adamant that this is the code!
Any help will be great!

Are you sure he hasn't given you the engine number?
The number is like a specific serial number for that engine, which contains info on year of manufacture and the factory it was made in etc.

I presume you just want the code for all engines of that type?

Also, Google reckons the code for your engine should be NFZ

He most probaby has given me the engine number instead of the code and if you are right its NFZ I'm guessing the 100bhp engine is the NFW out of the 106 rallye then :( sad times, I've been offered a full 106 xsi for 250 quid and was going to use the engine etc in my car and flog the rest on :( but the NFZ engine code comes back as a 90 bhp engine (same a mk1 vtr engine) so no point in buying it then :/
