I replaced the idle control valve today due to rich running and almost cutting out of the car when going from 40mph to a stand still.

I have accidentely snapped a plastic pipe off at the nipple end. This does not seem to be a hose. It goes from the top of the manifold to (arrowed red) and ends at the green arrow. Does anybody know what this is for? Also, what is the purpose of the parts with the orange arrow? This was full of sludge.

The car seems to run fine without this pipe on.....

Any help appreciated!

It is the crankcase breather hose.... The big black round thing is basicly just a t-piece one hose goes to the inlet before the throttlebody. The small hose which you sheared of goes directly into the inlet manifold.
So when the throttle is closed the vacum will suck the oil fumes through the small hose, and when the trottle is open there will be more oil fumes sucked from the crankcase.

It doesnt really matter if you sheared if off... Just block i off at both ends so there wont get dirt in the engine....
