i know its been done in a 205, but so as a c20let in a 106.
as for the skyline engine, it sits the wrong way, the gearbox is huge too

I'd go for the c20let myself.
What with there being plenty of vauxhall guys experienced with fitting them in tight hatchback bays theres good knowledge on problems that may crop up which you need to adapt for.
+ good bang for buck, evo lumps seem to be expensive in relation.

the c2olet was my 1st choice until i saw an evo engine in a 205.
i used to own a mk2 astra gte with a c20xe lump in, was very fun to drive, thats what made me think about using a LET engine.

how about a vag 20vT? seem to be putting them in every other car i see, so why not a 106

i was just about to say put a vag 2.0 tfsi engine in , you can have the engines running 300bhp a peice with just a remap - my mate has a 360bho leon k1 and thats faster than his dads ferrari .....

GTR lump lol! It would end up being a maasive wide arched bitch primera box would fit on it though lol!
But seriously the choice of those two would the the GM motor cos its been chucked in most things. I voted other, that being an SR20DET engine from a sunny GTIR. Same engine as the 200SX almost. As the GTIR is transverse mounted the blocks are different for that reason.
GTIR engine, primera box with nismo diff, pistons and rods are cheap, as are cams, big turbo and your away. Pick you horsepower mate.
Other options are fords zetec, plenty about and good for boost.
Or a VTEC lump for monster revs and a blower?
If you've got the cash the skys the limit, There's nothing that can't be done with the right amount of cash.

is the sr20det engine rwd?

Rwd in the 200s and awd but transverse in the sunny, the blocks are different in the respect of the way the gearboxes fit with starter mounting being on opposite sides. But aparts from that the blocks are the same.
Also the heads different in that the 200 has coil on plugs and hydraulic lifters and the sunny has a coil pack / leads and solid lifters oh and no vvt.
Sunny gtir sr20Det primera gt sr20de

what standard power is from an sr20det?
sorry to be a noob but when you say transverse, what do you mean?

im not doing much with the d turbo, its mainly as a run around and use for work.

17th December 2011, 21:01
Transverse is the engine sitting like a saxo or 106 across the engine bay and longitudinal is the engine sat the other way round so as to drive the rear wheels. The sr20Det come out at just over 200bhp standard and can go as far as your bank account allows. But 350 to 400 is the norm.

No worries although I must add the sr conversion is not a common one, a few guys use them naturally aspirated in rally micras, and There's been a few gtir powered micras down at santapod.
danny-vts
17th December 2011, 21:40
hmmm if they manage to squeeze them into a micra, a 106 should be a doddle lol
106TURBO
17th December 2011, 21:44
I often talk to dave bull who used to own a micra with a big power engine from a pusar in it, he now runs an almera, will bring it up next time I talk to him how he went about putting it in a micra.

gtir also has thicker head bolts, wider rod bearings and stronger crank and rods and solid lifters. also has bigger oil galleries.

Constella have done a Evo powered 205, in PFC mag.
Considered a Impreza Engine? they're dirt cheap to buy as a car anyway..many parts left over, Ie Beam, props etc..
Plus a Boxer sounding 106/saxo would be pretty awesome on its own imo

Money not a problem . Why do you shit money now . You really do need to think about this m8 that's why projects never get done . Or never even start what ever you go for your looking between 5 and 10 grand + that's just on the engine then you have rest of the car to build . I wouldn't think about what can be done as anything can be done . Go Honda engine cheaper to do and shoot load of parts for getting big bhp . Ie b16-b18 and type- r then turbo it :)

out of what youve put ive wrote c20..i hate them but youve not given much option, id rather see the 16v turbod...
evo in a saxo is an expensive waste tbh, show car nothing else...pointless IMO
the money itd cost to get in right would be daft
look at the track on the constella 205...

I wouldnt bother doing any fwd unless the main reason is to run wider track etc to get grip down. Dont need a different engine to be quicker, if you could make your new project to be to make your car alot wider track etc that is what I would do and it actually is what I am doing!lol
your going to come across the same problem with putting any engine in the front of a 106 with traction if your going for big power.
no point having a top racehorse at the gate with roller skates on if you get me..
