looking at boosting my 16v

i know everything i need to do but would like a few suggestions on compression ratio

im going to be running a GT17 which comes from cituning and the manifold and downpipe which also comes from them, will only be running at 5-8psi, will be running intercooler and 2.25" pipework as thats what the intercooler has on the inlet and outlets

was just wondering if you think i should buy a decomp plate or just a thicker gasket or something?

also will be using a dastek and 4 larger injectors so fueling wouldnt be an issue

Go do decomp, you'll only want to turn the boost up after a few months, decomp should cover you for that

Also go go 2' pipes

Stock compression ratio is perfectly fine I would say up to around 180bhp mate as long as your fuelling and ignition timing is sympathetic

I have another engine that I am going to rebuild after xmas which will be for a bigger turbo and more boost to which I will be going for a standalone ecu then

If standard compression would be fine for around 5-8psi from a GT17 that would be great as I could pretty much just bolt everything else on and get it all running for a temp boosted car... Reason I was asking was because I didn't want to have to get a decomp plate fitted to my current engine when I will be either fitting it to the engine I will be rebuilding lol or either going for forgies

Also go go 2' pipes

Would 2" pipes be ok tho as I would need to use step-ups for the intercooler inlet and outlets?

yeah 5-8psi would see you MAXIMUM 180bhp on an otherwise stock engine if you got the inlet temps perfect, so yeah that'll squeeze through fairly small pipes. You aren't gonna need to rev it up that much, the GT17 will come in early and make you wanna change around 6500rpm max, but it does give a REALLY nice shove on half-a-bar boost

what you doing management-wise? You need to sort that out too, obviously my ECU has ran this setup a fair bit, but choices include DTA, Omex and a few others

Yeah unsure as what I will be doing about ECU at the minute, For the temp build I was going to get 4 larger injectors and use a dastek

With the better build for next year I will be going fully standalone management but that is yet to be decided

I do have some 2.25" boost pipes already as the intercooler I have has 2.25" inlet and outlets but if you think I should run 2" pipes then I may look into this

Cool -Have you actually got a Dastek? I've got one in the garage if you are in need of a 'cheapy' for now?

How much did you pay for your cituning manifold? Direct from them?

They are £455 brand new including vat from cituning mate thats for the manifold and downpipe for the GT17
