View Full Version : mk1 oilfilter will not twist back off

putting a manifold on, so i took the old manifold off, took the oilfilter off screwed in the adapter screwed on the mk1 oilfilter, realised i need a m10 tap so left it on over night, came to tap the hole out today but couldnt get the filter off, i didn put it on tight with my hands but it will not move at all when i try twist it :/ what can i do?

Get a oil filter wrench to remove always put some oil on the rubber seal prevents it doing this

If I cant get a oil filter off with my hands, i just stick a screwdriver through it. That works. But ovs if you want to keep the filter, thats no good lol.

Welcome or as said stick a screwdriver fru it i have a vtr metal type filter you can have if you collect.also best tapping it with oil in sump then drain new filter fresh oil do a few hundred mile and do another change.any swarf should b out then thats what i did with matts who got ur vts wheels
