Hi guys, probably a thread about this already but I cant find one relating to this, where on the engine will I find the code that is on the V5 identifying the engine, as the only number I can find is the head casting number just above the exhaust manifold
Also if i could locate the gearbox code that would be good too :)
Thanks, Ben

engine code is contained in VIN number, in your case i'd suspect its HFX, gearbox code is found on a small rectangular piece of the gearbox casing, front side, machined flat with code stamped in it

Unless hes looking for the actual engine identity number then itlll be by the crank sensor on the block under loads of rust and un readable

Yeah thats right, my dad has always been a bit 'suspicious' about my car, we cant find it anywhere, looked on the gearbox and cant find a number on the front of the box lol, not looking good!

Yeah, my engine is caked in dirt and crap from general road use and when I slid into a grass verge on a slippery road lol, It was only a query anyway, I'm not really in need of finding it, just not as easy to find as the one on my old car :)
Thanks
Ben

I was wondering this as I have WFZ painted in blue on my rocker cover, my mate casually mentioned that was what they do at scrapyards to the the engines. There is a code printed into some metal near my wipers which I assumed was the vin code and this contains WFZ, but im now suspiscious it has had an engine replacement and the old rocker cover put back on :/
