hi just a quick one i have a 1.1 saxo engine which has blown head gasket have taken head off to skim it and found that the camshaft is quite hard to turn(could be bent i suppose cos just bought this car and dont know history of it)I have a spare vtr head lying in my garage and was wondering if the camshaft from that will fit the 1.1 its not for performance or anything its just to get the 1.1 up and running on the cheap.Thanx

just checked the cam sprocket on my 1.1 saxo and it seems smaller in diameter than my vtr cam sprocket is this correct or as i summise the sprocket is off a vts as they have two cam sprockets on.

How hard is it to turn the 1.1 cam over? Valve springs will put up a bit of a fight. Also I think the VTR uses a different bearing size to the 1.1s so it wont fit?

have removed rockers off the valves and the cam is still quite hard to turn when i get it moving it seems to go ok but when i try to turn it from stop it goes quite stiff again.Have taken head in for a skim today and asked the guy to check out the head he reckons its already had a skim and it looks a bit distorted but he said he will check it out.Is the 1.1 cam sprocket smaller than the vtr sprocket as i cant find a comparison anywhere.Cheers
