looking at getting a 4-2-1 Manifold and a sports cat as I dont know any 'friendly' MOT stations,
seen this one
http://www.kamracing.co.uk/index.php/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-exhaust/exhaust-manifold/janspeed-4-2-1-exhaust-manifold-sports-cat-saxo-vtr-00-03.html
would I still get decent gains with the sports cat, I see lots of recommendations for decats but I dont want to fail the MOT...
Also would it be worth getting a remap after this,

sack the sports cat off just change the exhaust back for the MOT, buy a manifold off here for about £100 instead of £390!

I'm selling a Janspeed 4-2-1 atm buddy, it's for a MK1 though so you might have to do the oil filter conversion depending which oil filter type you have. only want like £110 posted. Just change the cat back for MOT time.

I dont fancy doing any conversions to be honest, want things as straight forward as possible, thats why I was gonna get a sports cat and have done with it,
Will have a think about changing the cat each year, but was also worried about them VOSA stop checks, or would they not bother with a saxo and a decat ?
Also any ideas on the remap, or would it run happy with just the 4-2-1 ?

Fair enough mate. VOSA checks are done on any car that seems to be modified so they can check if it's road legal etc.
It'll run fine with a 4-2-1 and you should notice the difference as the mani and the cat are the most restrictive parts of the system.

what about sounds modified?
does anyone know what they would do if I ran decat and they check the car ?
like what punishment is it, car taken away fine etc etc

my mate had a track vts which he used as a road car. long story short he had a run in with traffic police and they went over the car. he had a de-cat on it and they never even mentioned it

The sports cat might loose about 1-2bhp compared to a decat. Either way its negligible.
Sports Cats are expensive but they save a lot of faffing about.

Thanks for the input, what about noise difference between decat and sports cat, I was told with a 4-2-1 and decat its meant to sound really good, does the sports cat take away any of that?
