hey, so I'm new to this whole site and driving, only passed my test on the 19th of December :p
I've managed to find insurance for £1850 a year on my brother insurance for a vtr, so i was thinking of getting a vtr and putting a vts engine in it. Not 100% sure tho yet as i'm a cruiser and i don't want another car crash (i was passenger) ended up rolling a clio 4 times and yeah wasn't too good.. ANY WAY...
Does VTS engine fit straight into a VTR?
any mods you think i could/should do to the engine before putting it in?
i'm hopping to be taking photo's as well, so if the time does come i'am happy to post them on here :)
many thanks!

It will fit but your insurance will either go up or be void if you don't inform them.
Get a engine that's the same year as your car to avoid complications.

Think the engine mounts need adjusting
Gunna be so much cheaper to buy and insure a vts... Gunna need all running gear from vts... About 300-500 and then about the same for the labour
If you and a mate can do it then go for it, but if not then buy a vts

i was thinking if I sell the VTR engine, I will make some money back, so it will work out?
me and a mate can fit the engine, I will just wait until Monday, as my bro is ringing up about insurance so i will get him to do a VTS as well, :)
many thanks!

Fair point but there's not much trade for r engines as if people upgrade it's usually to a 16v
Might have to sell as spares...
Obviously if you dont tell insurance then it's void so if you crash your fucked

doesn't matter anyway as it sounds like he is going to be main driver but he's on as a named driver.
but yes it is a hell of alot cheaper to insure a genuine vts rarther than a 's' engined vtr.
for example
i wondered how much it would cost to insure my furio with a vtr engine in,
as it sits £826 fully comp.
with vtr engine £2500
wtf id that about to insure a genuine vtr was like £1010

You will likely pay more for a VTR with a VTS engine than just a VTS on it's own.
The reason for this is that far less insurers will be willing to quote you on a VTR with VTS engine so of those who will, chances are that all will be more expensive than other insurers who will insure a normal VTS.
Say you have 100 insurers who will quote you on a normal VTS, you will likely only find 10 who will do a VTR car + VTS engine.
