I was just wondering.... (and sorry if this gets asked a lot but i have searched and cant find the answer i'm looking for!!) I have been given a Black top single plug vtr engine with a lot less miles on it than my current 2001> silver top 3 plug engine. Can i just swap the engines and use the sensors and loom from the 3 plug ecu or is there a huge difference between the two looms?
Cheers for any help.

Big difference as far as I'm aware, you would need to get the loom modified to work I think.

it will cost more to modify the loom than it will to source another silvertop engine 3 plug to match your car 8v lumps are cheap to buy plus saves on hassle you can sell the blacktop or px it for a 3 plug

Aaaaah balls, that's a shame! Just presumed that that they'd be fairly similar. I just thought as they are essentially the same block i could just swap all the sensors with loom off the three plug. Not possible then?

I would have thought you could use the three plug ecu/loom/sensors however the bkacktop engine is a much older higher emmision engine with 8bhp less and it also uses a fuel return which yours wouldn't have, also uses a different flywheel/clutch this isn't a problem though, I personally wouldn't fit it
