looking at getting my turbo sent off for a rebuild / converted to a higher spec.
its currently a td04 15t, not looking to go up to a td05, but want to upgrade the td04 to a 19T. been quoted around the £550 mark by turbo technics and similar by a few others to do this.
found this on ebay, same falnges/downpipe flange as mine but for a fraction of the price if i sent mine off, been talking to the seller and seems legit.... what you think?

That's not a garret turbo mathias, and you run a big risk with these cheap turbos. They tend to crack and fail very quickly. My advice would be to stay away from china turbos.
Don't let the price pull you in, you should buy a new genuine unit or get yours repaired. Or better still, try source a used one, that you know doesn't need rebuilding, garret are expensive for a reason, they make quality turbos.
What's wrong with your current turbo? oil seals gone or?
Edit : re read, just get yours upgraded by turbo technics mate. Unless you can get a Tdo4 19t used for less...

My mate used one on his evo running 400bhp or something. Lasted alright though.
Apparently the material they use isn't consistent though, either get a good solid one or a bad one.

Chinese turbos, and american turbo's that get sent to the uk are usually copies that dont work as well, there like chocolates... same as the IHI VF22 turbo on the subaru.. they dont last long.
If you were to order, id demand proof its from garret, some american companies do give you adequet proof.
