hey
ive had a look through the searches and everyone says its an easy job to do a vtr cam belt but i was just wondering does the bottom pulley on the crank that the timing belt runs on, is it a floating pulley or does it have a woodruff key so it goes back the same way? ill be doing it on my own either way just wanna know what im letting myself in for and what i need to prepare myself with in the way of timing marks and timing kits...
thanks

the pulley that drives the cambelt is keyed to the crank and doesn't need to come off.

you know what i mean when you take the aux belt off the floating pulleys have a nasty tendancey to spin the crank when undoing the bolt rather than the whole lot moving.
thanks alot anyway :) next week for that on my fiancees 98bhp vtr... i want one, i didnt realise how much fun they were until i drove it the other week!!! gonna play with mine tho ;)

you haven't got to undo the centre bolt, just the 3x 13mms that hold the outer pulley on

Ha, the first time i ever did a renault cambelt i ended up spending the labour on a damn timing pin kit for it. You're lucky.
