Alright lads, when i put my foot down at the moment to accelerate , it hesitates alot then all of a sudden when it reaches about 5,000 RPM it sort of gives it a huge kick of power, seems to be this hot weather. Would it be because i have an piper-x open air induction kit? Im thinking this might be the cause of the hesitation?

Thats probably the main reason why your loosin performance because not only is your induction kit taking in all the warm air from your engine bay but also from the heat outside.

bin the piperx that's your problem. there was one on mine when i bought it, took me a while to get rid but when i replaced it with the standard airbox the difference was immediately noticeable.

hot air = less dense air = less power.
and open induction is going to screw it in this weather

Open filters yes, a nice filter to think about is the enclosed green cotton, and you still get a bit of a sporty sound when you put your foot down.

as ad says. Daryl put a panel filter in the standard airbox, plus a piece of samco from the grill to the airbox in place of the standard cold air feed. voila, enclosed induction kit (what the standard airbox is anyway....). still beats me why people pay over 150 for bmc etc....;)

Agreed but people also like to style out there engine bay, and what better way to do it but buy a nice lookin air filter. i got my green filter on the cheap anyway, but if i didnt then id probs go for a panel filter.

I had the same problem with my 57i kit, it was really heating up @ the back of the engine bay. I overcame this problem by making a pipe that re-located the open filter to just behind the n/s headlight allong with a cold air feed. The result was NOTICEABLE AND LOOKS MINT! If any1 wants a pic let me know.
