Hi,
I've been offered a full system for 70quid but I've read they are almost like silencers for a saxo? Are they really that quiet?
I want something that pops and rumbles nicely but not chav loud nor quiet.
Cheers

Magnex are quite quiet for sports exhausts, I had one on mine when I first had my Saxo and it was not alot louder than standard
If u want more noise, look for a supersprint, piper, or something along those lines

Are there any piper or supersprint in the for sale section of the forum? Id rather not spam to get 100 posts so best if I just ask here.
Thanks

i have had 3 magnex systems, one twin box one and two abp motorsport designed magnex systems, the twin box system was quiet and the abp single box systems are awesome, i have them on both of my vts's and had one of them on my vtr, they sounds awesome, a deep note and bang and pop when slowing down when they are hot, even with a de-cat they are not raspy. the abp single box magnex is defo the one to get ;D

As far as u know it's the 3.5" round tail pipe full decat. Having hearing the supersprint on YouTube I can see myself being disappointed if I were to put the magnex on :/

i will look for my video on youtube of the vts with it on, in my opinion its the best i have heard on a saxo ;D, not raspy noise's like a 1.0 corsa with a straight through pipe lol

I've just recently fitted a magnex to my vts, imo it sounds really nice, i prefer it to the usual saxsport/supersprint stuff. It is quite quiet for an aftermarket exhaust but i prefer it tbh.

I think I may just take the plunge and get it. I can always get something else down the line and sell it!

You can normally tell how loud it will be by the size of the backbox, the smaller the backbox - the louder it normally is

alex, for some reason on that vts it always crept back, it had not been on that long when that was vid was taken, i sorted it after that ;D, had to open the end of the tail pipe section and give it a good few smacks with a soft nylon hammer, sorted it out at the end, sat nice and snug lol

I have a de-cat Magnex system and it's subtle as low revs but still sounds nice and deep. When giving it some it sounds awesome!
Doesn't sound like a wet fart or a bee, sounds nice and sporty :y:

I've just picked it up there, there's no writing on it or anything so I've just had to take his word that it's magnex haha. It's came in two parts, back box and pipe and decat pipe. The decat just slips onto the pipe but will I have to seal or clamp it together..?
Cheers

Get some pics up :y: The part where the centre section meets the backbox requires a clamp, like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Clamp-U-Bolt-50mm-2-inch-Universal-Type-/400277555033?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d3266c759#ht_528wt_1185 . If the decat and centre pipe are separate they usually require a clamp like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEAVY-DUTY-EXHAUST-CLAMP-RENAULT-CLIO-172-182-MK1-MK2-R12-/270834092760?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f0ef84ad8#ht_1418wt_952

Think you can see what I mean with the connections of the two pipes. Might be able to take the one off my current pipe if there's one on it

14th March 2012, 20:52
Yeah you need a clamp like the second link i put up to join those two in the bottom photo. And it looks like there is already a clamp on the other join (middle photo)
Sinque
14th March 2012, 21:06
Yeah there's a u shape clamp on the middle photo. I'm assuming the exhaust on my car now will have that other clamp I can just borrow? I'm off work tomorrow so I can get it sorted tomorrow, give my car a good clean and I'll get some pictures up! Will I need some new rubbers?
It looks the same as the exhaust on the magnex website (400quid new wtf???) and he breaks a lot of saxos so I think its genuine.
DanTvts
14th March 2012, 21:12
It should do yes, but if its old it may snap, spray some wd40 on the threads a little while before if you can. As long as your exhaust rubbers are in good nick you should be okay to use them. It is a magnex. I've got one on my car.

How does she sound on yours?
Right mate I'll give that a blast first thing in the morning and report back!
DanTvts
14th March 2012, 21:26
Its nice its easy to live with anyway, it doesnt drone at 70/80 like some do, quite quiet at low revs but still sounds good when it gets up the revs :y:
Sinque
14th March 2012, 21:29
I have a cheap steely on at the minute and it drones at only 60 to a point I feel embarrassed if there's anyone in the car with me haha. Sounds like I've got no exhaust!
Looking forward to getting this on :)

thats a magnex ;D

15th March 2012, 11:49
I think the exhaust is blowing where the new clamp is. Should I use a sealant of some sort or tighten the clamp until I can tighten no more? I don't want to break the clamp...

Magnet are a cunt for blowing, I welded mine
DanTvts
15th March 2012, 13:13
I just used a thin layer of paste on all the parts where it joins, and tightened the clamp, its not full on cranked but its reasonably tight!
Sinque
15th March 2012, 15:19
Managed to sort it all I think after many hours haha.
Problem now is, occasionally when I put my clutch down when driving to pull up to a junction my car cuts out. If it doesn't cut out the revs bounce around 10 :/

Yeah it's still blowing, ever so slightly arghh
DanTvts
15th March 2012, 18:28
Where's it blowing from? The cat to centre pipe join?

That part.
I've managed to tighten it so its sealed unlike that picture but when I put my foot down I can still hear that tractor noise ever so slightly.

It looks like you have no gasket in there? May need a new one if it does have one in there
Sinque
15th March 2012, 18:42
That will be why then lmao, there wasn't one when I took my oldie off. So what should I ask for at my motor factors? A manifold exhaust gasket?
DanTvts
15th March 2012, 18:46
Yeah you need to ask for the cat gasket. Or manifold to cat gasket. Looks like this http://www.autocarparts4u.co.uk/product.php?id_product=65
Sinque
15th March 2012, 18:49
Think it'll be sound once thats in. I was thinking it should have a gasket but there wasn't one there so I assumed it might clamp together.
Thanks a lot mate

15th March 2012, 20:13
No probs, should only be a few quid so an easy fix :y:
Sinque
16th March 2012, 18:26
It's still blowing through the gasket. Do they take a while to take their shape or something?
DanTvts
16th March 2012, 19:07
No they're a bit of a bitch to get lined up properly tbh. Easier if you've got a friend there.
Sinque
16th March 2012, 20:20
I gave up as I started getting frustrated so I took it to north east tire and auto care and they said it should settle in as they fitted it and it was still blowing? I got the right gasket but they said I might need a smaller one as its a bit chunky...
