Hi Guys,

Was wondering on a total price to upgrade my 1.1 saxo to a 1.6 8v or 16v?

It would be good if I could get it cut into sections, as I know if I put a 1.6 16v in there, I should get the brakes/suspension and other bits upgraded

So if anyone can give a rough estimate of engine upgrade, then brakes suspension etc it would be a great help, also if you know of anything else that should be upgraded this could help too :p

for how much these mods would cost youd be better saving your money to get a vtr/vts anyway. ive spent plenty on my 1.1 so far that i could have with px of my 1.1 bought a good low mileage vtr or vts

if you look hard enough you can do it on a tight budget. i paid £200 for my gti engine, spent around £150 on bits and bobs that it needed and used parts from my 1.1 engine. i already had my brakes upgraded. it cost £25 for vt brakes(calipers, disks and pads) and thats about it. labour was free as me and a few mates done the work

Fair enough, Just got off the phone to insurance, looks like a no go for even a VTR

What upgrades are worthwhile on the 1.1 to make it a bit more fun?

How much would a brake upgrade be? [Roughly]

you could stick some 247 vented brakes on off a vts/vtr/furio etc for about £30-£40, or go for bigger brakes like 266s for probably more like £100 all in

Thank you, I see the 266 front discs and pad sets are about 40 on ebay, is this correct? What sort of calipers should I get? I definitely need them replacing, the bleed nipple has rusted on

theres loads of info on big brake upgrades all over. theres lots of different types of calipers off different cars, have a search and see what you find

Its a 4 stud, Got some VTR alloys to fit too, just got to get some wheel nuts! Will they fit over the GTi brakes?

PM MandysLover70, fairly certain he does 1.1 to VTR/VTS conversions??

I reckon you are looking at close to a grand after doing the suspension and brakes etc.

Waste of money imo but each to their own.

Insurance costs will be a fair increase, especially if you are young

The best way to do what you want to do is to buy a vts then completly reshell it into your 1.1

Or as thatll never happen you could buy a vts in the same colour as yours with the same number or doors and swop the plates, illegal but more likely to happen..

Other wise get real and just enjoy for 1100 for what it is while saving for a better car to replace it.
