Could be a dodgy lambda sensor if it's using lots of fuel

Start off by enclosing it. Mine ran like crap as soon as the engine warmed up due to heat soak. Put the old box back on and get a k&n filter to put inside unless the cone is behind the passengers headlight as its cold air there. I got one off amazon.com for about 18quid delivered from the u s of a. Cheap as chips compared to near 50quid from uk websites.

Follow this guide aswell, just take it all off rather than just spraying it into the gap: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174710

Is it standard or a cheap stainless big bore? Can pick up full systems cheap on here or eBay. I got a full magnex exhaust system for 70quid

Might just be the open filter that is making it sound loud, see how it goes when it's enclosed.

As always do a service on it. Change oil, engine flush it at the same time, oil filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, run a fuel cleaner through it also. Radiator flush and fresh coolant. Should increase fuel efficiency.
