Took apart a bottom end today to use the crankcase as a donor, and the little oilers that feed oil up into the cylinder from underneath were all snapped off clean, and there were 4 little makrs one on each piston, in the corresponding location....obviously hit them and broke them off.
is this somethign anyone else has seen, ive took a few engines apart now, and they have all been fine, cant say as i have specifically checked clearence betweent this part and the piston, as they were allready inplace before hand..... just seems strange.

id seen a few engine builds with aftermarket pistons needing some work with the oil spray bars.

ryan they were standard pistons, it was just a bottom end without sump i picked up. maybe the previous owner had done something, but they were all definately knocked off by the pistons. didnt seem to have been taken apart before i did so....

ive seen this on a j4 too, it was one i was given, initially was to be the donor for a jp4 hybrid, but the oil pump was damaged, there was massive big and little end wear, and even the cams where clearly running very poorly lubed as there was about a millimeter and half play in the exhaust cam in its bearings! basically it was scrap!
whats the bores like on yours? this one had clearly had savage piston slap as it had scored the bores too.

not too bad atall tbh, one has a slight scor line but only very slight, the rings are very loose in the piston (up and down) but the end gap on the rings is still tight, all the way up the cylinder, as are all the bearings... dont think it ahd been like it long.
