Got a 51 plate VTS. Will start like 3/4 of the way but just can't start fully.
Last weekend I changed the engine loom over as it had few cut and re-connected wires in places, so changed it for one that was okay no wires damaged etc. Went to start it with the new loom in place and no luck wouldn't start. So then changed it back to the original loom which it did work on, but the car still didn't start. So for some reason changing the loom over has caused the car not to start, but don't have a clue why.
When I was putting the new loom in I caught the earth wire for the alternator on the head and it sparked, I wondered if that could have blown something. But then I've double checked all the fuses and changed all the relays now.
The engine loom in now is the original one which it was running fine one but now won't.
On Saturday I removed the fuel rail and injectors. Checked if fuel was flowing through the injectors and fuels coming through all 4 okay, so no problems on the fuel side.
Then checked the spark again and that was okay as well.
Checked all the fuses in the engine bay and behind the dashboard, there all are okay. Changed all the relays too.
Need to check the timing, but don't get how it could be that. As it starting fine one day then the next day went to start it and no luck, car hadn't moved either just been sat on the ramp at work
Only thing left to change in the crank sensor on the gearbox, but haven't got a spare one at work so need to get one.
Another thing I thought it could be is that the ECU has locked it self, but if it has somehow then surely it wouldn't show spark or fuel ?!
Now totally lost on whats wrong, any one have a idea.
