this may seem like a stupid qustion, but is the gearbox oil the same as the engine oil. As in when i fill the oil up like you do, and check the dipstick is that the same oil as what is in your gearbox.
Reason i ask is that i think i have a leak, but the oil is like a green colour an looks difrent to normal oil, as its sunday i cant take it to a garage, if it is the gearbox thats leaken will i be able to tell by the dipstick?

well ive just been out there, and everything else seems to be ok, like power steering, and brake fluid, it has been leaken over night, but the car still goes into first and reverse? i meen how you suppose to know if its the gearbox lol, just drive it and see if it brakes down?

you'll have to get underneath the car and have a look, see if you can determine exactly where the leak is coming from. if you can't then take it to a garage tomorrow, but the car will be fine to drive unless it's absolutely gushing out.

engine oils usually darker more black
gearbox is ususally golden/redish
gearbox is also sweeter if you taste it

got under my car and it is from the gearbox seal by the looks of it, the amount of oil that is on the road, tells me that there pobablys isnt n e left in the car, the car is driven perfectly, i only took it round the block though, so dis this meen i need a new box, or is cheaper just to get the seal sorted??
