Finally got the engine going, but now its not running right. Changed the coilpack and all spark plugs but didn't help. Theres no codes showing up on a code reader either. any ideas?

could it be spark plugs? im sure i heard a mate saying theres did and changed that and what you mentioned and it was fine after? not to sure!

Fuel injector?

I'm stumped. You're welcome to send the ECU up and I'll try it on mine, if you think it could be that?

Got 4 new plugs in it
Fuel injector?
Tried another set of injectors in it and was no better.

Yeah think its best to try that, nicole said about it earlier. Don't know whats left to try lol! Will get it posted next week, and the coilpack too and the code reader lol. Thanks mate :y:

Just check the ecu plugs connection. Get some electrical contact cleaner in it and a toothbrush.

Compression test it.

Good idea. Could be head gasket I guess?

The headgasket was done a few thousand miles ago so surely can't be that? I'll do a test anyway better to be sure.
The car was running fine before, this has only happened since I changed the engine loom (the original loom is now fitted, which it did run okay with). So haven't messed with the engine it self. Confused

its clacky enough to be a cracked manifold or a rattly bottom end. Hard to tell from one video though.

My guess then its either the new loom or a faulty sensor, funny it should happen after switching looms?:y:

Its back on the original loom now tho, which it was running fine on. But now doesn't

You may of snagged a wire when removing the orginial loom? did it do this on the other loom?

I've checked the loom like 5 times now as thats what I thought but everythings okay, even had someone else check it over and they couldn't see anything wrong.

just done a compression test, and all four cylinders read 180 psi.
so surely it cant be HG as theres no drop in compression?

Got to be an issue with the loom then I guess. There a decent connection to the MAP sensor and lambda?
I'd be tempted to just stick the new loom back on personally - I'm convinced the old one is causing all the grief.

Normally if it were a wire broken in the loom then there would be a fault code stored, especially if it were a wire to an engine sensor. As the ecu would put a code in for the sensor which the wire relates to, as it would assume that the sensor is faulty (rather than the wire being damaged) if the ecu isnt recieving the correct signal :y:

Also how did you manage to get the engine running in the end?? and does the vehicle have an immobiliser fitted?

MIght be worth just seeing if theres any spare sensors around, things like CPS etc..

I'm thinking may be the loom too, will chuck the new loom back on this weekend and see how it is. I bet it still won't sort it lol

I've had it plugged into a code reader and theres no fault codes on the ecu showing up. I've also tried a different ecu and was still no good.

Yeah I thought to start changing sensors, will see what spare ones I've got.

So that would indicate the loom should be ok then, the video isnt clear enough to try and diagnose it from tbh. The car sounds rough but does the car actually misfire?

disconnect your lambda and try it.

make sure all of your injector loom plugs are firmly on your injectors and clipped up properly
my R did this the other week when i done the head gasket, it was the plug on clyinder 4 had come off slightly becuase i lost 2 of the clips with it being apart 3 weeks in a car park :p
