Mk2 Vtr. 2001 98bhp

Just took the airbox of car since i bought it like 2 months ago.

To fit the k&n panel filter i bought today, and was wondering whats the point of the little chamber thing that goes into the bottom hole on the airbox?

theres no intake into it.. what the hell does it do!

if i took the standard air feed off. could i run 2 hoses (samco maybe) to both of these holes to improve the airflow, because the bottom still goes to the unfiltered side of the airbox like the top one..? here's the picture if u dont get me anyways.http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j144/paul1087/Image027.jpg[/IMG]

It's called a resonator and it's designed to reduce the noise 'pollution' which we so love by restricting the air flow. Get it off and seal it up with some tape or leave it open.

so, without this connected it'll have a deeper induction note?

what about connecting it to an air feed?

worth doing performance wise?
