For ph5 came your going to need forged or at least pocketed pistons and rods as I presume it will be revving high?

will also need throttle bodies and probably solid lifters and stiffer springs

hence why i asked him what sort of bottom end and induction hes got planned

If he's running pt52s already one would expect that the rest of the engine has already been done ;)

that is a very valid point we both seemed to have mised lol if its not catcam/newman and you're a saxp member you dont need to know about other brands :homme:

newman solid lifters, newman springs and ph5 hasbeen added to old specs.

Infact engine started to run already,
some guys from my country said that ph5 is not the wildest cam for saxo,
they just compare the cams duration.
honestly i dont know the meanings and effects of the parameters writen on the brands catalog. any body have an idea

you can decide on correct cam once you say what bhp you want and at what rpm you want max power
also your p252 will run ok on single t/body
But now you are at the point when any higher spec cam will require t/bodies + solid lifters+ forged pistons ecu system etc to allow you to use 8k rpm , or more
high spec engine with wild cams will never pass a REAL mot even with a cat fitted.
you should also consider type of driving you do mostly
a very wild cam profile will be very poor at low rpms and will not really come alive till 5k +
the wildest cams don,t really work till even higher up the rpm range
this is why rally + race cars use close ratio gear boxs so when you change gear it will not drop the rpms too much and keep you in the power band

I dont think hes worried about the MOT John (being based where he is) From previous threads this isnt a road car so one would expect the OP is just after the most peak power.

I have a customer building his new race engine with the cat cam 1321816 (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/cat-cams-1321816.html)! 300 degree inlet with 13mm lift!
He's going for 230bhp though!

Be interesting to hear how that comes out.

I always considered 811s but now think is it really worth the extra money over what ive got.

Did you try "1321816"
could you compare them with ph5's

Irc there wasnt much advantage of the ph5 over ph4? From when was it toad built his engine, something to do with torque? Cant remember now.

No. Historically we have done no engine building. We've only opened our workshop this year. The customer did not feed back about his build. Short of looking at paper figures I cannot help as we've not tested the cams ourselves.
