Has anyone else had any issues with intermittent power loss on a VTS. Every now and again the engine seems to bog down like its trying really hard to make pace, however other times its like a little rocket. I'm going to hook it up to the diagnostics and check compression at the weekend I just wondered if any one else has had the same issues and if its a common thing, cheers.

2 things spring to mind the coil pack & or the map sensor.Does the bogging down happen when the car is hot?

Old engine I had was similar, I never determined what it was though, car was scrapped.
Ask 'Dom', he knows more in depth what the problem was.. He described it to be similar to your symptoms. Iirc, it was basically a fubar'd HG.

It happens when hot or cold, not all the time, doesn't seem to be any specific reason, which makes me think its on the sensor side. Don't think it's head gasket, no other symptoms at all. I think its a long shot but I'm not sure if the cat may be partially blocked as the exhaust note changes every now and again and I know the system has no leaks.

Its not uncommon for the cats to collapse. Ive seen two 106 gti's its happened to... Free to check at the end of the day.

First thing I would do was check fuel pressure as the pumps are common to play up.
