gotta magnex system on my saxo VTR V reg 99, went my mechanic today to get a de-cat put on but he said its dangerous he cant do it, he said getting rid of the cat would b real bad, not sure if he knows much about the modded car scenes, but is this true. he said every car needs at cat. is this true, and is getting a de-cat dangerous and a bad idea.
is it the catalytic convetor the de-cat does away with.
know it sounds stupid but i aint too clued up on it.

all you need is a cat for the mot.
it should free up the revs abit because there is less resistance again the exhaust gasses.
do you know a cat makes more pollution making the thing in the first place that it does while its on the car.
lol. and they take like 15 mins to warm up to work and thats when there most needed becaus the engine is cold and makes the most pollution,
waste if you ask me.

try go to kwik-fit and mention a de-cat.. apparently if you take off your cat, the world will end, planes will fall out the sky, and elvis will be reborn to personally cut off your testicles...

Oh dear... some garages. Obviously don't want the business.
As people have said... no it's not dangerous but your car will fail an MOT if you didn't have one.

Make sure you sort out the lambda sensor(s) then. A local garage wouldn't charge a lot to fit it. It's not a lengthy task and plus... they'll also have all the right equipment.

Just make sure you keep your standard cat as this will be needed for mots

He's probably just trying to cover his own areshole incase you get a random emissions test by the old bill and you point your finger at him whilst they wrap the handcuffs aorund his wrists.

I reckon it would use slightly more but nothing to major, i'm guessing this my be due to increased speed the gasses are released meaning it could burn more petrol faster*
*I've just patched that statement together using vague memories I have, it could all be made up but at least I tried.
