Id put it one of those oil bath things you get in garages and give it a good scrub then..

I always use brake/parts cleaner, and give it a scrub with some scotchbrite at the same time.

Do you pay for you brakecleaner..? that shit isnt cheap and youd use loads to do a head.

Wickes degreaser is a good option for mild grease and coke like you'd get on a head, brake cleaner is fucking expensive by the can. Took me too massive cans taking the glue off my windows from the tints the other day as I needed something stronger

Yes and no haha. I do buy it in fairly large amounts at a time so it works out a decent amount cheaper, and i'm always needing it so might as well buy more and get a discount. Also we have loads at work so sometimes use that if i'm there.

Going on from my first reply, if you dont have access to one of those things (which i still stand by is the best option) you could try gunk, but i find it leaves the item smelling of gunk.

I'd just grab some wet'n'dry sandpaper and give the ports and outside a sanding. That way you'll easily get rid of all the build up.

Plus like gibbo said, all GUNK and other carb cleaner stuff etc bloody stinks and is a bugger to get rid of the smell. It stunk out my shed for 2 weeks when i had a go at cleaning my engine with the stuff

Dishwasher with a vanish tab works every time.

Well.....I've never thought of that. Wonder if the parents would ever know...
