fuel pump

took fuel pump out to test it took it out the plastic so its just the metal pump on its own and put it in a big tub with fuel and powered the pump up, the fuel just sprays out a small round hole in the top of the pump?? an not come out of the feed pipe inless i put my finger over the small hole then it does, and i can then remove my finger, any 1 no what the small hole in the top is for and how it works???

Not too sure about what the small hole is for bud, but when my pump went on my 1.1 forte, i just replaced it straight away..

Tried to f*ck about taking the metal pump out of the plastic but it was more hassale than it's worth! - How did you find it??
