Can anyone help me here my engine sounds a bit tappy does anyone know what it could be?

It sounds like its not meant to be doing it of that makes sense when I rev tr engine it gets louder It doesn't sound like a smooth running engine if that makes sense

Get a video up of it?
Sounds like it is the tappets, when they're out by a long way it can cause the valves to open too much for too long, or in your case, if theyre too loose they can stop the valves opening completley causing the noise and a poor running engine.
Its east to fix, Take the rocker cover off, get a 10mm spanner and a feeler guage (.4 inlet, .2 exhaust iirc) but you do have to do them in order.

Had this problem when i done my cambelt brought some feller gauges off ebay for peanuts and bobs ya uncle.

If you have a haynes theres a pretty good guide in there i used.

Just done mine last night. But what i had was
Inlet 0.2mm
exhaust 0.4mm
just a query as jason has it writen the other way. i not saying whi is right or wrong . as mine still have a slight tap so can some one conferm what the gaps are

Sounds like your tappets are fine, sorry I couldn't remember which way round they were...
Get a video up with the noise, will make it a lot easier to work out
