Yes it can be done, I was thinking along this route with a turbo XU I had, but after buying a vts and seeing how good they actually are, I sold all the XU gear to a lad who was putting it into a 205.
Save all the hassle and boost a vts:)

ok new question how easy is a vts to drop in a vtr? mines a 3 pin ecu so would prob be easier to drop a 3 pin ecu vts in? i know driveshafts are the same and thing else obv engine ecu wiring loom gbox?

I dont mean to be rude but... COME ON! Really there are thousands of threads about this!! And in answer to your question yes its easy... Is your next one does a 406 v6 coupe engine fit in a saxo? That might be a good thread to start :-)

Anything will fit if you have money and time.

You've got to ask why? Apart from the headgasket J4's are bullet proof imo and very tuneable.

saw the 106 with v6 fitted on ebay last month lol, a tight fit in a c2 so would be seriously tight in a saxo. how about a Cummins 6 cylinder turbo diesel in a Smart car?

yea to be honest my engine could do with an overhaul the piston rings are on there way out and my throttle position sensor has snapped because my engine fell out when i repaired my clutch (snapped engine mount) but i need someone who repairs gearboxes as well as mine has a leak where the 2 halfes join together

No way can you fit anything over a 1.6 in a 106/Saxo, you'll obv make it handle like a tank, a breathed vts would rape it anyway, impossible!!!

Is it easy to spot sarcasm on the internet?

yes a v6 will fit, but just like the c2's, its tight and they handle like wet pigs on a greasy baking tray

Can you name ANY fwd car which the engine doesn't sit over the centreline of the diff/driveshafts???

i said forward of,not over lol. the front bank of cylinders hanging out front is what i'm on about, and yes, early Renault 5s and 12's and such like were FWD and the engine sat behind the centre line of the front driveline,

he managed to get the engine a good few inch back now, makes a massive difference

did he need much bulkhead modding to move it back,we had very little clearance between the rear cylinder head and bulkhead, if we could have moved it back a bit without buggering driveshaft angles up,we would have because there was zero in the way of front slam panel clearance lol. Was quick in a straight line but just not my cup of tea and getting ground clearance was a mare, main reason it got sold tbh

I will ask my mate later how he got it back....i know he has custom 1pc driveshafts

No because faggot wheel drive was and still is such a fail....

and i still named fwd cars where the engine doesn't sit over the centreline of the diff...come to think of it, try Triumph 1500's and some of the Audi's.

Audi's renowned for hanging over the front end..? the cam covers vertully touch the back of the headlights lol.

The only time you will get cars like you say is when the driveshafts come out the front of the car... In front of the engine. I can't think of any that have this layout..

Any of the ones you have named I'm not sure about withought looking into them but let's face it... None of them have been thought of as the best fwd cars in terms of handling..

who mentioned anything about them having to handle well, you just asked for an example of one! the old renault 5 handled pretty well to be fair, body roll like a discovery but just hung in there to the end.....then fell over!

This is where I got the impression that you were saying because the engine hangs over the front it's handling badly?? Surely that is what you were trying to get across? Or am I missing something?

KamRacing
12th June 2012, 16:20
theres more to a car than just an engine....but theres good reason why the XU engines tilt backwards. FWD is not ideal but it can still be fast

I think a honda did this but cant for the life of me say which one.
One day I might be able to afford a custom hewland to do this to a car, but its a dream lol

Well it would the. Be classed as a mid engines fwd car.. Would certainly be interesting haha

the supertouring cars I think had this setup but with the engine tilted forward so they could get the induction angle perfect.

on the renaults and triumphs the engines sit BEHIND the centre line anyway, with gearbox up front. Saab and Audi are the other way round
