When I say fuel pump I mean the actual pump, not the whole unit.

Any one have any tips or guides as how to get it out the unit?

Trying to change the OE one for a walbro.

Its hard to describe without pics, but Ill try.

On the outer case, there are two grooves that locking tabs go into. Pop them, and slide the top part (with the electrical connector) upwards. Reach inside the two parts with needlenose pliers and take the spade connectors off the pump. Youll need to sort of manipulate the metal fuel feed out from the bottom half (youll see what I mean when you look at it) - I think I popped it out its location then spun the top half while rotating it to sit 90deg from the lower half.

Once you have the two halves separate, youll be able to see the pump in the lower half. It's held in place by three (iirc) big plastic locking tabs, the type that have the cross-section of half an arrow if that makes sense. Get a grip on the pump with pliers/moleys, pull up , and use a screwdriver or similar to pry the plastic locking tabs out of the way. Its a bastard to do, but dogged perseverance will get you there.

Sorry I dont have pics, but once you start taking it apart it's kind of straight forward and what I've written should hopefully make sense!

Can get so far, but i'm not sure if the lower filter bag that's attached to the pump is stopping it from coming out.

I can pull it up so far but then seems to get stuck.

Annoying the lower cap part seems to be glued on, would help if that could be removed.
