Everyone i speak to goes on about unlocking the ecu
WTF do they mean? Is it like a remap or a piggy back or what?

ECU is coded to the immobilizer box / transponder key

So when people swap engines / ecu's from another car.. it's a different code.. so it lock's itself so it cannot be started. (anti theft)

So to get them working again / to stop them being locked again.. They need to be 'unlocked'.

Well explained Saxova, but I think he also wants to know how they are 'unlocked'? Something to do with taking your box out of your car when started then removing certain pins.

Cam on here unlocks them mate, drop him a PM think it costs £50.

grrr no offense to you as your only asking a question but it really pisses me off that people tell others to unlock their ecu, it makes no difference to the map as saxova said it just means it can be used in another car, tell who ever told you to do they are talk absolute bollocks If they think it makes any difference

yea exactly to unlock it you remove the black immobiliser box situated behind the glove box while the engine is running

Means you un-lock the sugary goodness that the Magneti Marelli has locked away in side.

Omfg that's the immobiliser!? What happens if you take this out when the car is off? I thought it was my central locking box and was trying to unplug it lol. Till I re-read the post I was reading and realised it was a brown plug...

I thought as much, thanks for the replies.
I have experience remaping, chipping and refurbing ecus, this is what made me think it was dribble.
Whats the score with turbo kits? Built corsa sport and vx 8v turbos before but never a saxo. What can you tell me?

Sorry mate but how do you have that level of experience with management and not know what unlocking an ECU means. Its not just saxo's that get ECU's unlocked :S

What do you want to know about turbo setups? What power would you want and what budget?

Im aware of immobiliser set ups but was just making sure there wasnt somwthing within the ecu i wasnt aware of. Only way to learn is to ask.
Want around 250 to 270 bhp.

so youve built turbo'ed corsa's etc before but you cant work out how to turbo a saxo?

I've never turbo'd a saxo before, but I can only assume its exactly the same principle as turbo-ing any other petrol 8valver?
Hope you have deep pockets if you plan on making that power from it though.
