I own a 99 Phase2 VTS and fitted a Janspeed 4-2-1 MAnifold, sports cat and Janspeed cat back exhaust about 3months ago and although happy with the performance gain I was very unhappy with the sound which was only slighty louder than standard but as it was a eBay bargin I didn't mind but I am going to change it for a custom side exit system.
So what I'm saying is be carefull if your buying a off the shelf exhaust.
Janspeed are known for there performance over noise as are Magnex but exhausts like Scorpion and Mongoose are abit more agressive with their tones, But if your thinking of spending upto £300 on a exhaust why not look at a custom job. Peco do a large range of tail pipes but are more known for there noise over performance so it just sounds like your going faster but hay whats wrong with that, not a thing.
With a custom exhaust you can have what ever you want coming out of where ever you want! Why be the same as everyone else :Y:
Unless your running a turbo a exhaust will only free up a few horses on its own so really unless its part of a bigger 'performance' package (Air filter, Cams, Manifold) a exhaust is more personal option.

Really?
I've only heard about poor fitments.

Well, mine hasn't moved an inch, no knockin or rubbin to mention.
But I guess it all depends on who fits the exhaust. I know people who have bought much more expensive exhaust systems and either put them on themselfs or had monkeys at Kwic-Fit do it and a week later it sounds like a £50 Nova with pipes twisted and knockin systems.
So, no matter what your buyin why not treat yourself to someone else fittin it plus a new set of hangers.
The only really bad exhaust I had was about 3-4yrs ago when I had a Ashley Manifold and system fitted to a XR2i and it was a REALLY BAD fit and took abou 3goes over about a month to get it to hang right!

Im literally talking about a manifold not being able to fit on, it doesnt matter who fits it when its poorly made.
I cant condem Janspeed totally though but it does put you off.
You'l have to take me for a spin in your VTS if you're only in Dartford ;) (im in swanley btw)
